Tips for Carrying Furniture and Moving Boxes:

Yes, there is an easier way. You can save yourself a lot of frustration, sweat and energy during your move if you follow these simple tips for carrying furniture and moving boxes:

Carry boxes behind you to alleviate the stress on your back; this way, all the weight is on your legs. When you carry the box in front of you, stress is added to your back, arms and shoulders.

Here are 3 easy steps for two people to pick up a dresser:
  1. Tip the dress on its side.
  2. Grab the bottom.
  3. Lift & set it on your knee or thigh; this way both hands are underneath the dresser.
Carrying six moving boxes at a time: It may sound like an impossible feat, but you do not have to be superman to carry more boxes at a time, only strategic. Follow these 4 easy steps to save yourself time and energy.

Note: Use average sized or petite moving boxes.
  1. Stack 3 moving boxing one on top of the other.
  2. Stack a second column of 3 moving boxes directly next to the first one.
  3. Tie the columns together using a rope.
  4. Make a tight knot at the edges of the rope for a secure hold.
  5. With your back facing the boxes, slip your hand between the rope & leverage the boxes onto your back.

Weight Loss Woes to Wins

I like to think of myself as a dieting professional. I’ve tried every diet in the book. Atkins, Special K, South Beach you name it, I’ve tried it. They all worked for me up until a certain point. The problem comes into play once the dieting faze is over. At the sight of the carbohydrates or other delectable foods that I had deprived myself of having, I would gorge only to find myself 20 pounds heavier than when I started.

I’ve successfully kept the weight off for two year now and I attribute this success, not to a change of eating, but to a change of thinking. I’ve adopted a healthier life style by exercising, eating healthy and occasionally having those previously forbidden foods. I took the time to learn my over-eating triggers. I had been overweight since childhood. My family was constantly
moving, to cope and express what I couldn’t say - I would eat.

It took a lot of time to make the connections as to why I over ate, but through visualization methods, group therapy and patients, I’ve been able to keep the weight off. Being patient with myself was the greatest help. I stop looking for get-slim-quick methods and took my time. I shed the weight slowly and along with that, I shed the bad habits and came into my own – my new self, my true self, my happy self.
